Politicians from around the world have been congratulating former German chancellor Helmut Kohl on his eightieth birthday today. For most Kohl is the Chancellor who oversaw German reunification after the Fall of the Wall. Critics saw him as the "Eternal chancellor" who ran the country for no less than 27 years.
