The reputation of the French Foreign Legion is both legendary and notorious. Every day, men from all over the world come to the legion's barracks in Aubagne. Often, they're looking for a second chance in life. But they have no idea what awaits them.

Since 1831, the Légion étrangère, or Foreign Legion, has fought on the front lines of every armed conflict France has been involved in. Thousands of men apply each year but only around 1,600 are accepted. Recruits must be prepared to give their all despite the extreme challenges: strict orders, grueling exercises, lack of sleep and little food. This film follows three young men through the selection process: David del Solar de la Sotta from Chile, Alan Gracin from Croatia, and Adrien Macquart from France. Their physical fitness is repeatedly tested, as are their mental and intellectual skills. Another factor is whether they get along with the others in the group. Are they prepared to be subordinates, to take orders and handle the constant pressure and hardship? Are they really willing to give their all?
