As a child, Jibika was worshipped as a goddess. Now the Nepalese teenager struggles with the consequences of her extraordinary past — torn between pride, pressure and the longing for a normal life.

Jibika from Nepal is determined to lead a normal life after years as a revered Kumari.

As a living goddess, she was shielded from the world and admired — but when this role came to an end, she found herself having to navigate her way back into normality, learning to be herself.

Between graduating from school, family tragedy and old memories, the now 16-year-old is feeling her way forward, one step at a time. She is rediscovering friendships, gaining self-confidence and learning to make her own decisions. Her story offers a rare glimpse into Nepal's centuries-old Kumari tradition and the challenges of returning to everyday life.
