Bedbugs may hold the key to unsolved crimes, as scientists in Malaysia have discovered. The blood they suck contains DNA that can identify potential suspects, turning them into silent witnesses.

Bedbugs may soon help catch criminals. In Malaysia, a university lab has found that the pests retain human DNA for up to 45 days after feeding. By analyzing short-tandem-repeat (STR) markers in the blood, scientists can reveal gender, hair, eye, and skin color.
