Half of Europe depends on natural gas from Russia, much of which flows through Ukraine. But it seems that every time there's a dispute between Moscow and Kiev, Russia turns off the gas taps -- like it did this past Wednesday. The move has prompted renewed calls to reduce European dependence on Russian energy. For many parts of eastern and central Europe, this winter is proving to be especially hard.
