Three years have passed since the October 7 Hamas-led terror attack on southern Israel and the start of the war that followed. In Gaza, a generation of children is growing up marked by loss, displacement and injury.

Three years after the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel and the war that followed, many children in Gaza continue to live with deep physical and emotional scars.

Fifteen-year-old Mahmoud Abu Shadaq is recovering from injuries caused by an airstrike, while eight-year-old Layan Abed lost her father during the conflict.

Aid groups are providing rehabilitation, sports and mental health support, but many children still face displacement, limited access to education and lasting trauma.

Their stories highlight the challenges confronting a generation growing up amid war, loss and uncertainty.
