Moving abroad now … and to a region that sometimes seems addicted to conflict: the Middle East. More violence there in recent days … with militants in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip firing rockets into Israel … and the Israelis responding with an offensive that´s killed over a hundred people in Gaza. Meanwhile, the international community, including Germany, continues to pour money into the West Bank, controlled by the more moderate Fatah party. Some money is going towards small, rapidly-implemented projects, aimed at showing Palestinians how quickly international aid can affect their lives. German development minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul was in the West Bank last week … to press home that message.
