Here in Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy said they share a common vision of closer EU cooperation. Following weeks of speculation about a growing rift over economic policy, the two leaders met in Berlin on Monday and agreed that the EU as a whole needs to move towards more unified economic governance. Their talks came ahead of a EU summit later this week, and a G20 summit at the end of the month.
