German coalition battles for second votes

Angela Merkel has asked German voters to give both of their votes to the CDU, despite calls from her coalition partners for conservatives to support them. The FDP fears it may not receive enough votes to stay in parliament, which would force the CDU to seek a new coalition partner should it come out on top in the elections. But Merkel says this is no time for experimenting.
