German defence minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is making an unannounced visit to Afghanistan. Reports say he arrived at german military headquarters in Kunduz in the north of the country a few hours ago accompanied by defence experts from the German parliament. The trip is expected to concentrate on the fallout from a September airstrike near Kunduz ordered by a German commander in September which killed up to 142 people including civilians.
