German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle is making his first visit to Israel

German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle is making his first visit to Israel since taking office four weeks ago. Before leaving he spoke of Germany's special responsibility towards Israel. He also said germany supported a just two state solution for Israel and the Palestinian territories. His trip comes as Israel faces international criticism for refusing to freeze settlement construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
