Inflation in Germany, the euro zone's biggest economy, slowed to 1.6 percent on a 12-month basis in April from 1.8 percent in March, the federal statistics office, Destatis, calculated in final data on Wednesday. The final April inflation number was fractionally higher than preliminary figure of 1.5 percent calculated late last month. The preliminary German consumer price index (CPI) is based on inflation data from six so-called indicator states -- Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony. But final CPI is based on cost-of-living data from all 16 German states.
