Two German Bundestag members used the 153rd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tanzania to raise concerns about alleged human rights violations, restrictions on free speech, and the reported disappearance of government critics.
They called for accountability over deaths, injuries, and disappearances linked to a crackdown on opposition figures. The lawmakers also highlighted the case of opposition leader Tundu Lissu, while President Samia Suluhu Hassan has rejected foreign criticism, which she says is interference in Tanzania’s internal affairs.
