Here in Germany, parliament has overwhelmingly approved an extension of the Bundeswehr's military mission in Afghanistan. This allows the increase of troops there by upto 850- taking the total German troop deployment there to over 5300. The mandate also includes provisions for a future German withdrawal from the country. Ahead of the vote there were noisy scenes when members of the Left Party were dismissed from the chamber after a protest action.
