Germany's military has quietly tested one of the most advanced long-range ballistic missiles ever considered for its arsenal. The launch of Israel's LORA missile system took place in the North Atlantic.

Germany has carried out a secret test of the Israeli-made LORA ballistic missile system, marking what experts describe as a major shift in the country's defense strategy.

The launch comes as the government considers a missile program worth nearly €12 billion ($14 billion) and expands its long-range strike capabilities.

In this interview, geopolitical analyst Olaf Böhnke explains how the supersonic LORA missile differs from existing systems, why Germany sees deterrence as increasingly important and how Russia's war in Ukraine is reshaping German and European defense policy.
