Euro draw 2013
March 15, 2011Germany's bid to retain their European Championship title will begin with a qualifying group including Spain, following the draw for Euro 2013 in Nyon, Switzerland.
Teams from 38 European countries will be whittled down to 11, who will then join hosts Sweden in the finals.
Germany will face Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Turkey and Kazakhstan in group 2, with the group winner automatically going through to the finals.
There are seven groups in total, and the best runners-up overall will also make the final 12 teams. Euro 2013 will be played in July of that year, with the qualifying matches starting in September 2011.
The German women's team won Euro 2009 in Finland with a 6-2 win over England. They were also victorious in 2005, 2001, 1997, 1995 and 1991.
This year the FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Germany, with the German national side looking to defend their 2007 title.
