Germans Leave Practice Plan Open
September 1, 2005Possibly avoiding complaints that they're ducking their own country, national team assistant coach Joachim Low said the team management still haven't decided where the team will practice. Under the headline "Something like this has never happened!" the German mass daily Bild revealed earlier this week that the national team planned to prepare for its remaining friendly matches leading up to next June's World Cup on the island of Sardinia, in Switzerland or Austria. Low, who is Klinsmann's top deputy, said that "no decision has yet been made." The original plan was to gather up all the national team players on May 13 following the end of the Bundesliga season and head abroad to do their best to escape all of the attention. The following 15 days would be spent on the Italian island and then in Switzerland or Austria.
