Germany is the top tourist destination for young Europeans
October 7, 2015World Travel Monitor was commissioned by Berlin’s ITB travel fair to look into the developments regarding trips to foreign countries made by Europeans between the ages of 15 and 24.
The survey shows that the number of young travelers has dropped by 10 per cent, partly due to a decrease in birth rates.
Other changes were also found. In 2007 Spain, followed by France, Italy and Britain were the favorite destinations for young European tourists. Since 2013 Germany has been the number one destination. This was helped partly by the positive reports in the media during the 2006 Soccer World Cup as well as marketing strategies.
Young Europeans are also showing growing interest in Sweden, Croatia and the Netherlands. The top cities are London, followed by Paris, Copenhagen, Munich and Berlin.
