Germany marks 35 years since reunification

35 years after West and East Germany were reunited, Chancellor Friedrich Merz marked the anniversary with the warning that liberal democracies are under attack — at home and from abroad. French President Macron also took part in the festivities, urging Germany to take on a bigger role in Europe.
