Germany has begun disposing of 120 old Russian nuclear submarines. In the course of a €300 million ($357 million) aid project, Energiewerke Nord Lubmin (ENL) started on Thursday to clear a shipyard near Murmansk. There, it will eventually take apart the submarines. ENL will deposit the parts in a temporary storage space it will build nearby. German Chancellor Schröder and Russian President Putin agreed to the program, which is set to run for six years, in October.
