US President Donald Trump has halted plans to station US intermediate-range weapons in Germany, intended to serve as a deterrent against Russia. The move has Germany worried it may be left exposed to Russian aggression.

Russia's war in Ukraine is prompting European governments to reassess their defenses, particularly long-range missile capabilities.

Concerns are growing over Russia's Iskander systems, deployed near Europe and capable of striking multiple countries.

Plans to station US Tomahawk missiles in Germany have stalled, raising fears of a deterrence gap.

Berlin is now exploring alternatives, including procurement and joint development, as Europe seeks to strengthen its own military capabilities.
