Germany signs Canadian LNG deal to cut energy risks

Up to 1 million metric tons of LNG a year could flow from western Canada to Germany, marking a milestone after talks that began in 2022.

Canada may soon supply Germany with up to 1 million metric tons of LNG per year from the Ksi Lisims project in British Columbia.

While a small share of Germany's 2025 LNG needs, the agreement marks a milestone after talks began in 2022. It supports Germany's push for energy independence and helps Canada diversify trade as relations with the US have cooled since the Trump era.
