Ghana intensifies efforts to woo Africans in the diaspora

Since 2019, Ghana has actively invited people of African descent — whether to visit or resettle. Its "Year of Return" and "Beyond the Return" campaigns generated billions of dollars in tourism revenue. Now, the government’s "Black Stars Experience" initiative wants to attract even more visitors and investors.

Following the success of Ghana's "Year of Return" and "Beyond the Return initiatives, the West African nation has intensified efforts to lure Africans in the diaspora to return andinvest. A new policy aims to attract more remittances, which have now become a central part of Ghana's economy. For instance, at least $3.6 billion (€3 billion) was sent to Ghana in 2021 alone.
