You can't get much more German than in the historical center of the medieval city, Schwäbisch Hall, with its winding alleyways. The town has one of Germany's most beautiful marketplaces -- and since 1965, it has also been one of the Goethe Institute's most important language centers.

People learning the German language come to Schwäbisch Hall from around the world to study against this picturesque backdrop. We joined them in the summertime in Swabia, in southern Germany.
