This year's Berlin Film Festival wrapped up on Saturday evening with the surprise announcement that the prestigious Golden Bear for best movie had gone to the Brazilian film "The Elite Squad". It's a movie about efforts to combat crime in the favellas of Rio de Janeiro and, says director Jose Padilha, an attempt to show that violence cannot be used to combat violence. His critics though say the film itself is too steeped in bloodshed.
