Google must pay record fine

Google has lost its fight against the biggest antitrust penalty in European history. The European Court of Justice has upheld a record fine of more than €4.1 billion, rejecting the tech giant's appeal.

Google has lost its appeal against the largest antitrust fine in EUhistory after Europe’s top court upheld a penalty of more than €4.1 billion. Regulators said the company abused the dominance of its Android operating system by requiring smartphone makers to pre-install Google Search and Chrome. The ruling marks a major victory for the European Commission  as it continues to scrutinize the market power of major technology companies, including Apple  and Meta, amid growing tensions between Brussels and Washington.
