Government's World Cup Site Goes Live
March 17, 2005Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily launched the German government's central website for the FIFA World Cup at CeBIT, the computer trade fair, on Tuesday. "We are all, of course, full of happy anticipation of the FIFA World Cup. Today, we are going to launch a website for this major sporting event in order to provide people with even more information", Schily said, giving the new website on football the green light. All information about the government's services relating to the World Cup is now available online at wm2006.deutschland.de. In addition to an overview of preparations for the World Cup, the website provides general information about soccer in Germany. The website is not only available in German, but also in English, French and Spanish. International guestbooks invite visitors to contribute to the site with text, pictures and videos. There are also interactive elements involving games and quizzes related to the World Cup.
