Graveyards 2.0: Remembering the dead with interactive gravestones

A growing number of stonemasons around the world are making interactive headstones featuring QR codes that allow the bereaved to call up memories of their lost loved ones with a Smartphone.

While Asia introduced "Quick Response" (QR) on headstones some time ago, Germany is still trailing behind. The only headstone in the country adorned with a QR code is in a private cemetery in North Rhine Westphalia. It was designed by Andreas Rosenkranz, a Cologne-based stone mason who's campaigning for a more contemporary approach to gravestones.
