Guilty verdict for Hong Kong activist Jimmy Lai

A court in Hong Kong has convicted former media mogul and pro-democracy activist Jimmy Lai under China's national security law. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit sedition and colluding with foreign forces.

Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai has been found guilty of colluding with foreign forces and publishing seditious articles under the city's National Security Law. Lai, founder of the now-closed Apple Daily and a key figure in the 2019 pro-democracy protests, has been in prison since 2020. His son Sebastien warns of Lai's deteriorating health after years in solitary confinement. Lai now faces life in prison.
