The UN's North Korea sanctions - in pictures

April 19, 2017

The UN Security Council has sanctioned North Korea for its pursuit of a nuclear weapons program. That limits the country's diplomatic presence abroad, and also means few items of non-humanitarian use are imported.

Sanctions issued by the UN Security Council in response to North Korea's nuclear weapons program include a total embargo on arms. As international observers say North Korea continues to flout bans on its pursuit of a nuclear weapons program, the UN Security Council has increased sanctions on the country. In addition, the United States, Japan and South Korea have issued their own measures to alter the country's atomic ambitions.
