November 3, 2021I was born in London to a Scottish mother and a German father. Shortly after, we all moved to Scotland, where I grew up on the east coast. I studied English Literature at Edinburgh University and had the chance to explore my Germanic roots in my third year, when I took part in an Erasmus exchange program at the Freie Universität in Berlin.
I was immediately drawn in by the allure of Berlin’s culture and the freedom of expression that it stood for. I made it my goal to move there permanently.
Little more than a week after graduating from my masters at Edinburgh University, I moved to the German capital and starting working as a freelance culture and lifestyle writer.
I joined DW in February 2020 and have since worked as a social media editor, reporter and presenter. I helped launch DW’s first ever TikTok channel @dw_berlinfresh, in a bid to make journalism accessible to younger and broader audiences, and to bring social media reporting to the forefront.
In my spare time, I like to wander the streets of Berlin, seeking out spots that remind me of the city’s warmth and creativity. I’m also an avid art and literature fan, and I enjoy travelling across Europe.
