I expect that the out of the summit at Heiligendamm, the eight world leaders will make clear how they are effectively going to fight world poverty in the years to come.

Billions of people live in dire poverty, and every three seconds a child dies because of it. This has to stop.

The G8 has the power to change this, and they have to live up to their promises and double development aid. With the voices that we bring together, we will bring pressure to bear on Chancellor Angela Merkel, as G8 president, to ensure that Heiligendamm faces the facts and achieves real success for the world's poor. Some 800 million hungry people and 40 million HIV positive people cannot wait another year.
