Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned he is ready to step up attacks against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, claiming the militant group is currently rearming. Last November, a ceasefire put an end to months of open war between the parties in southern Lebanon, but Israel has kept up regular air strikes there.

Despite a ceasefire, tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to escalate. Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed five men, claimed to be Hezbollah fighters. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accuses Lebanon of violating the truce by failing to disarm the group, while Lebanese civilians and officials decry the ongoing violence and its toll. A lasting resolution to the decades-long conflict remains elusive.
