A sophisticated 2,000‑foot (610-meter) drug tunnel linking Mexicoand California has been uncovered by US authorities, leading to the seizure of $45 million (€38.8 million) worth of cocaineand four arrests.
Equipped with electricity, ventilation and a rail system, the tunnel connected to a warehouse near San Diego. Officials called it a major blow to cartel operations.
Experts say such tunnels can move large volumes undetected, though single seizures have limited impact on the broader drug trade.
