Joshua Wong became the international face of Hong Kong's 2014 Umbrella Movement while still a teenager, leading protests that demanded greater democratic rights and challenged Beijing's influence over local elections.
Since then, the prominent activist has been arrested multiple times and spent periods in prison.
Jailed since 2020 under China's National Security Law, Wong has now pleaded guilty in a second national security case, making him the only Hong Kong activist prosecuted twice under the sweeping legislation.
He could face a lengthy prison sentence, including life imprisonment.
