The global clothing waste crisis is escalating rapidly, with over 90 million tons of textile waste generated annually and most of it ending up in landfills or incinerators, often in developing countries. Less than 1% of clothing is recycled into new garments.

Emerging solutions like AI-powered textile sorting, mechanical and chemical recycling, and EU sustainability regulations could transform the fashion industry into a circular economy. However, many challenges remain.
