Cricket is gaining ground in Latvia thanks to migrant communities who play through the Baltic chill. Inside an indoor stadium near Riga, international students and newcomers are turning the sport into a shared home away from home.

Cricket is finding an unlikely home in Latvia, where harsh winters push players indoors at the Olaine sports stadium in Riga.

Mostly expatriates and international students, many from South Asia, gather to stay connected with their roots and build community.

The Latvian Cricket Federation, founded by migrants from India, is working to grow the sport despite challenges such as limited equipment access and lack of official recognition.

Players hope rising interest and future Latvian participation will help transform the country into an emerging cricket hub.
