Playing paintball
May 15, 2009
Paintball is a team sport in which players eliminate their opponents by hitting them with marking pellets fired from a paintball gun.
Marked players are eliminated from the game.
The name "paintball" refers in part to the type of ammunition used. The pellets are made of gelantin and filled with food coloring.
The color balls are shot with an atmospheric pressure gun, also known as the marker.
Protective clothing including goggles and helmets is obligatory.
The German Paintball League consists of three divisions, as well as four regional leagues and numerous district leagues.
Many people play a non-competitive form of the sport known as "recball." It is usually played in a forest.
It can also be played at purpose-built facilities.
Sometimes paintball is also played indoors.
