The German Left Party is split after a regional group passed a resolution "against Zionism." Some fear a rise in antisemitism, while others stress that legitimate criticism of Israel's policies and actions in the Middle East has to be allowed.
This video contains an incorrect English translation of a German quote from the Left Party leader for Lower Saxony, Torben Peters at the seven-minute mark.
Peters actually says: "I think it's simply a case of conflicting viewpoints — not just within the Left Party but also within the broader German debate." In the interview, he went on to say, "I think the intensity of the debate is a result of us not having had this discussion enough."
We apologize for this error.
