Messenger apps have now moved well beyond exchanging texts and images. Soon, users will be able to shop, pay bills and transfer money through WhatsApp, WeChat and Line.

The future of mobile messaging services has already arrived - in Asia. China's WeChat, for example, can be used to pay for and order clothes, meals or a taxi. Other companies can even set up their own shops on the app.
