Russia has stepped up pressure on Pokrovsk, but some Ukrainian troops appear to be holding on near the front line. DW follows a group of Ukrainian drone pilots as they navigate the treacherous roadways near the embattled city.

Ukrainian drone units near Pokrovsk are facing growing danger as Russian forces intensify their attacks. Soldiers from the National Guard describe how constant drone strikes have pushed both sides back to fighting on foot, with armored vehicles increasingly targeted from the air. Despite Russian claims of capturing Pokrovsk, the situation on the ground remains unclear.

DW follows a team rotating to front-line positions, navigating mines, reconnaissance drones and damaged vehicles. Some Ukrainian troops are now so cut off that supplies must be delivered by drone, highlighting the escalating pressure around the embattled city.
