Early results suggest opposition leader Peter Magyar could unseat prime minister Viktor Orban in Hungary's election. Magyar says he is cautiously optimistic about getting the most seats in parliament.

Early results in Hungary's parliamentary election indicate opposition leader Peter Magyar is on track to unseat Viktor Orban as prime minister. Magyar has said he is cautiously optimistic about getting the most seats in parliament. But votes are still being counted, and Orban had earlier told supporters to expect a 'surprise' victory. Magyar campaigned on tackling corruption and repairing ties with the European Union and NATO. Orbán promised stability and warned that Magyar would draw Hungary into the war in neighboring Ukraine.
