Hurricane Sandy has caused havoc across the US eastern seaboard, leaving a path of destruction in its wake. At least 12 people were killed as trees were uprooted, levees burst and power lines knocked down. President Obama said the storm triggered a major disaster in New York and New Jersey and he has since freed up federal aid. Superstorm Sandy is now moving towards Canada.
