ICC prosecutor suspended: can the court still serve justice?

For the first time in its 24-year history, the International Criminal Court has suspended its chief prosecutor. Karim Khan, who sought arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin, faces allegations of sexual misconduct.

Karim Khan, the suspended ICC prosecutor, has been recommended for disciplinary action by the court’s oversight body following an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. ICC member states will now vote on whether he should be removed from office.

DW looks at why this matters: what happens to ongoing cases at the court, and what this affair means for the ICC's international credibility. We're joined by Danya Chaikel, representative of the International Federation for Human Rights to the ICC, to help unpack these questions.
