In France, birds of prey are improving flight safety

In western France, birds of prey are trained to provide more flight safety. They help prevent accidents by chasing away other flocks of birds. Bird strikes rank as one of the greatest risks in aviation.

A deadly crash in South Korea shows how dangerous bird strikes can be. At Nantes airport in France, falconer Anthony Renaud and his buzzard Tucuman work to prevent such incidents by scaring birds away from runways. In a region rich in wildlife, their efforts have cut incidents nearly in half.
