Nine people were killed and more than 30 injured on Friday night when a team of forensic experts was examining a cache of confiscated explosives. Regional police in Srinagar say they do not suspect foul play.

Friday's incident comes as India's security agencies carry out a series of raids in Kashmir as part of their investigation into the car blast in New Delhi earlier this week, which has been classified as a terror attack.

India and Pakistan each administer part of Kashmir but claim the region in full. The area has seen an escalation in recent years, while militants in Indian-administered Kashmir have fought New Delhi's rule since 1989.
