India faces mounting LPG shortages as Iran war drags on

Far from the battlefield, gas shortages are causing long queues and mounting frustration as people line up with empty liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders in New Delhi.

As the US‑Israel war with Iran shows no sign of easing, the Indian government has invoked emergency measures to boost domestic LPG production amid rising fears that energy supplies could run dangerously low.

In New Delhi, the disruption is hitting businesses and threatening the livelihoods of already‑struggling daily‑wage earners, a restaurant owner told DW.
