How a village in India improved toilet access and sanitation

Mullikapatti was one of several villages in India that had sanitation issues and open defecation. With the help of an NGO, Mullikapatti and its residents have invested in better toilet access and improved hygiene.

Open defecation used to be common in Mullikapatti village. With the financial support of the NGO Gramalaya, as well as local residents, the sanitation and hygiene conditions in the village changed. The project to build toilets in Mullikapatti began in 2023.
