Indian elections seen as test of governing party

Millions of Indians began voting Saturday in regional elections seen as the first major test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party after his controversial move to ban all high-value banknotes last year. "De-monetization" caused widespread hardship, especially among the poor and lower middle class. The Modi government's annual budget may win back some of that lost support though.
