India's IndiGo flight chaos: What's behind the disruption?

IndiGo, India's largest airline, has scrapped over half its flights since earlier this week, leaving thousands stranded. With long waits and almost no alternatives, many say they are furious.

The disruption unfolds amid increased regulatory scrutiny of India's aviation industry after a major Air India crash in June.

IndiGo has admitted that the disruption was caused by its own "misjudgement and planning gaps" in implementing the government's new rules limiting pilot flying times.
